HCG sustained: At day 44, a positive HCG can indicate either a miscarriage which your body has not yet rejected, or an ectopic pregnancy, which needs attention. See your physician for an ultrasound and advice. At age 41, unfortunately miscarriages occur much more frequently, and this pattern you have described is not unusual.
