How many mcg of folic acid one should take in early pregnancy?

Minimum: is 400 mcg. 750 is better. Buy prenatal vitamins. They have a good amount.

400 mcg: 400 mcg is the recommended dose for a normal pregnancy. Most prenatal vitamins have 1 mg (1000mcg) which is more than enough.

In general: taking prenatal vitamin wi 400 micrograms (mcg) of folic acid is recommended. But you may need higher doses if you or other relatives have had babies with spinal cord defects.
