I am 17, never had sex. i sometimes get dark red tissue-like bits (about 1 inch long) with my period. is this normal?

Red tissue: period: What you have described are blood clots forced from your womb by contractions (cramps). This happens with heavy periods in teen age years, and is not dangerous. Some periods are more dramatic than others, but if it continues , see your healthcare provider for advice, and possibly ask about low dose birth control pills , which can control heavy bleeding.
