Herpes simplex: Herpes does not usually cause pustules unless itching causes the ulcer to bleed and become infected. If the HSV is weeping a clear liquid, it can be spread to another. If a pustule is present, it is probably not HSV, but a small staph abscess,which is not HSV, and is common with skin eruptions. See your healthcare provider to get a culture to prove the cause.
