No: Melatonin is an "endogenously produced hormone" - which means our bodies make melatonin on their own. Supplemental melatonin as a sleep aid has had few reported adverse events to date. Dizziness, daytime sleepiness, headaches, nausea and enuresis (wetting the bed) have been reported.
