Its possible to: Have life threatening complications related to gallstones. As if the gallstones block the gallbladder, you can develop cholecystitis(gallbladder inflammation) which can be complicated by gangrene and/or perforation. These complications can kill you. Realize that not everyone will gallstones needs to have their gallbladder removed though.
