Prolonged bleeding: The more important question is "why is this happening?" unexplained vaginal bleeding can be caused by something as innocent as birth control pills or something quite serious, including cancer. Your bleeding will either stop on its own or as a result of gynecologic evaluation and treatment. You need to see your medical provider! meantime, take iron; a good source is prenatal vitamins.
