Tubal ligation: The clear mucus discharge one gets at ovulation is a result of the glandular tissue in the cervix and vagina responding to estrogen and progesterone hormones released into the blood stream by the ovaries. Tubal ligation prevents the egg coming down the tubes to the uterus to be fertilized. Rarely, tubes can grow back together and fertilization and pregnancy can occur, possibly in the tubes.
