Usually benign: This is usually a benign finding. It can be associated with costochondritis, which is inflammation of the cartilage that connects your ribs to your breastbone. Other muscle strains can cause it as well. As long as it's not associated with shortness of breath and is not severe, I would generally recommend trying ibuprofen and seeing your doctor if the pain persists.
