Hard to say: If he continues to act normally, he's probably fine. The object he put in his mouth may have scratched him, or even your own fingernail may have when you were trying to remove it. Just watch him, give him lots of fluids, and see if he has any further problems. Call your doctor if he vomits red blood, has a fever, or is not able to eat or drink.
