Whenever new partner: Whenever you have a new partner, you should both be screened for STDs. That will only tell you your current status, but is a good place to start. Use condoms EVERY TIME you have sex to help protect yourself and your partner. Be sure to use an effective birth control method as well if you don't wish to get pregnant at this time.

A few days plus 6 wk: Thanks for the question. Urine or vaginal swab testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia are valid anytime 2-3 days after the last exposure. Blood tests (HIV, syphilis) should wait until 6 weeks. There are no good data on best time for vaginal infections like trichomonas and bacterial vaginosis; 1 week maybe OK but 2 weeks might be better. Given this sexual lifestyle, consider condoms. Why take chances?
