Abnormal: A burning sensation during intercourse is not normal. Causes include inadequate lubrication, vaginal infection/inflammation,or even reaction to the condom. I recommend that you discuss this with your gynecologist who may want to examine you if intercourse continues to be uncomfortable.

No: Vaginal intercourse should not be painful in a healthy woman during her reproductive years . After menopause the vagjnal mucosa becomes dry and can be uncomfortable or painful. That can be easily treated with topical hormone creams.
