Inner ear: All inner ear disorders do not come with nystagmus. You have to differentiate cochlear and vestibular problems which are both of the inner ear. Cochlear problems cause hearing loss and vestibular problems cause vertigo. Nystagmus is the eye responding to vestibular problems of the inner ear in some cases. Central neurologic problems which do not involve inner ear can cause nystagmus, as well.
