I found out i have "dermographism" & i am wondering is it a condition? is it caused by an allergy reaction? will a cold flannel ease it down?

Idiopathic: Cause not known except heredity a factor. Aspirin and alcohol may make it worse. Not allergy, it is a physical urticaria in which histamine is released from mast cells by stroking or pressing the skin. Antihistamines can help. Zyrtec (cetirizine) (ceterazine) works best. If it makes you sleepy you can try 1 or 2 Claratin (loratadine). Take daily. Eventually it will stop. I do not think cold flannel is a good c

Dermographism: Dermographism or dermatographism is a benign condition that is not caused by or associated with allergy. Any areas of friction or scratching can flare. It is often self-limiting. Loose fitting clothing is therefore recommended. Fortunately, it is very responsive to antihistamines and your physician can help guide you with the appropriate dosing of specific medications for therapy.
