What is the best imaging study when investigating veins or arteries in the lower limb?

Arteriogram: giving contrast and tracing the blood vessels by fluro or MRA would be the gold standard to map the vessels.

Duplex ultrasound.: The initial best imaging study to evaluate both arteries and veins in the lower extremity is a duplex ultrasound which actually consists of 3 evaluations in one. First is ultrasound to look inside the vessels, second is velocity measurements and third is color flow within the vessels. The 3 components give a very accurate evaluation of the vessels. More advanced tests would be CTA or CTV.
