Otherwise well?: Fever is a normal response to infection, so you don't have to completely take it away with medications. Use the medications if he is very uncomfortable. Hard to interpret the eye pain without seeing your son - as long as he is otherwise well (eating / drinking, acting normal and not confused, breathing comfortably) it is safe to wait and watch. A viral illness is the most common. Encourage fluids!
