To hear better: stapedectomy/stapedotomy surgery typically has a very high rate of success in improving hearing loss in patients with otosclerosis. Common symptoms immediately following surgery include fullness in the ear, bloody discharge, some dizziness, and some pain in the ear. Some patients experience some alteration in their sense of taste as well.
