Will this treatment affect my ability to become pregnant? should i talk with a fertility specialist before treatment begins?

YES: If you are undergoing any medical treatments that you fear may affect fertility (chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or any other treatments) it is very important that you seek care with a fertility specialist as well. There are options we can offer to preserve the fertility of women facing fertility damaging therapy including egg and embryo preservation.

Yes: The american society of reproductive medicine (asrm) has just declared egg freezing for fertility preservation prior to cancer treatment no longer experimental. Many oncologists are not familiar with these very specialized techniques, so it is important to see a reproductive endocrinologist very soon after your diagnosis so s/he can work with the oncology team.
