Varivax reaction: You can give him some claritin (loratadine) (loratidine) syrup once daily for 3 days and also can use topical hydrocrtisone 1%. They will be gone in a few days. :)

Chicken Pox: Good for getting the vaccine- even if you get chicken pox, it is usually much milder! Making your child feel more comfortable is the main thing. Give tepid baths with baking soda or oatmeal powder to soothe itching. Prevent scratching when possible. Keep the skin clean, and cool. Tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever (NO aspirin) Call your doc if there is high fever.
