A member asked:

Can your cervix move forward if stuck behind baby head (head is lower than cervix) @ 40 weeks? will the cervix dialate at all behind baby head

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: It appears that you are referring to a posterior cervix which is normal. In a first pregnancy, the baby usually descends early into the pelvis and the cervix being posterior is behind the baby's head. As labor ensues, the cervix will dilate and eventually become mid position and is applied to the baby's head in preparation for delivery.
