Tonsilith: It is very likely that you are describing a tonsil stone, which is not actually a "stone" but desiccated food products trapped in the deep pits of tonsil tissue. When the material gets rehydrated, it expands and causes acute, sharp pain. You will need to gargle with salt water and hopefully dislodge it, but if it persists, consult an ENT doctor who will need to extract it by gently pushing it out.
