How does the bp get higher when you have polycyctic kidney disease? why are you more suspectable of getting aneurysms?

Bp: the polycystic kidney has perfusion dynamics which can promote the development of hypertension. Increased blood pressure increases the wall stress of the arteries making aneurysm formation easier

PKD and HTN: Polycystic kidneys secrete renin in higher than normal amounts, and without fluctuation. Renin catalyzes formation of angiotensin and ACE catalyzes formation of angiotensin 2. AG 2 constricts blood vessels and promotes salt retention thru direct actions and thru aldosterone. These combined effects raise bp. Arterial walls in PKD setting have some collagen defects, similar to nephrons.
