Tonsilitis: You need to see your doctor and likely take antibiotics. You are past the organogenesis stage of pregnancy and besides, an on going infection is much more dangerous to you and the fetus than a few days of antibiotics. The longer you allow the infection to circulate in your body, the more potential harm to the fetus.

Tonsilitis: In adults, most cases of tonsillitis are viral, and therefore do not need to be treated. In this case, care measures such as salt water gargles, Tylenol (acetaminophen) (which is safe), lozenges and a humidifier may be helpful. In cases of bacterial tonisilitis, penicillin is the treatment of choice and is safe to use in pregnancy.
