A member asked:

I am recovering from a clostridium difficile infection. i heard recurrence happens, how likely is it ? is there a way to prevent it ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: Most people do not relapse. Older people seem to be highest risk. A well accepted and proven preventative option does not yet exist. Many infections don't need antibiotics (sinus, bronchitis, ear) so avoiding antibiotics if you can - one option.
