Bacterial infections: usually don't heal without treatment. Untreated bacterial infections can spread and lead to more severe illnesses.

Don't guess: It depends on what the bacterial issue is- if a simple shift in flora (bacterial vaginosis) vs chlamydia, gonorrhea, or other STDs. You need an evaluation to make sure that the cause of the vaginosis is addressed and you do not continue with infections that will be passed to your partners, or cause you problems down the line with infertility or tubal pregnancy.
