Yes there is a test: This is an autosomal reserve inherited disease and it is very rear. There are about 100 cases diagnosed worldwide. Signs and symptoms appear in the first few months as failure to thrive.

YES: In younger people the cholesterol level is lower, it usually creeps up as they get older. There are genetic testings available for abetalipoproteinemia. But tests are done in appropriate clinical setting with symptoms and clinical signs suggestive of malabsorption of fat and vitamin deficienecy.
