Blood disorder: The sickle cell disorder of the blood is genetic. Those with it do not have normal hemoglobin in the red blood cells and cannot carry as much oxygen in the blood stream. There are clinicsin most children's hospitals to diagnose, treat, and guide the patient and his/her family to decrease life threatening events. Frequent blood trasfusion as well as erythropitin keep blood cells closer to normal.G.
