Scalp tenderness: If your scalp is causing you pain, it is unlikely that cortisone will relieve it. There are may thing that could be causing it one of which is herpes zoster or shingles. I certainly think if this is new onset you should be evaluated asap and even if this is chronic it warrants evaluation. So please seek out your primary care physician or dermatologist.
