A member asked:

My dad had a minor stroke. what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sorry to hear: There are 3 kinds of stroke: a clot, a bleed in the brain, or a bleed in the space between the brain & skull. Clots can occur at the site of blockage or float downstream from the heart or another artery (like the carotid). Treatment is needed to prevent another one & depends on the cause. BP control, lowering of cholesterol, and anticoagulation or antiplatelet therapy is usual. Surgery rarely.
