Not sure they are: There are several different layers of tissue between your ribs and the actual heart. Parts of the heart lie directly behind the ribs, but are still covered by different tissues. It's hard to tell, by the way you phrased your question, whether you believe there is direct contact between the ribs and the heart or not. If you feel something is wrong, I recommended seeing your doctor. Take care.
