Insist on an answer: If you're mildly or not anemic and your RBC count is a bit high, you probably have thalassemia minor which is a non-problem unless you marry someone else who has it. If your RBC count is also lowish and/or you're seriously anemic, you're likely to be iron deficient. There are other possibilities. Your physician needs to explain. Best wishes.
