Adequate positioning: The wrist and hand needs to be adequately protected and positioned to prevent pain; support of the wrist in typing would be very important.

Usually nerve compre: The symptoms you describe could be from compressio, pressure on the nerves and sometimes also be the presentation of more serious problems like a neuropathy from diabetes etc. Would recommend a proper evaluation.
