Bleeding on OCP's: With current dosages of oral contraceptives, the hormonal component can be depleted if not taken punctually. The "period" experienced on oral contraceptives is only in response to stopping the acitve pills, causing withdrawal bleeding. Not taking a "low dose" pill punctually can "bring on" such bleeding. If this occurs, stop the pill and wait 5-7 days and begin a new cycle.
