A member asked:

Why is gastrojejunostomy done?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

MANY REASONS: Connecting the small bowel to the stomach (gastrojejunostomy) can be done to bypass a blockage in the distal stomach or duodenum. It is done for GI tract reconstruction after removal of the distal stomach or duodenum. Actually, gastric bypass surgery incorporates a form of gj. There are other reasons, of course, but these are some of the primary ones. Good luck.
