MANY REASONS: Connecting the small bowel to the stomach (gastrojejunostomy) can be done to bypass a blockage in the distal stomach or duodenum. It is done for GI tract reconstruction after removal of the distal stomach or duodenum. Actually, gastric bypass surgery incorporates a form of gj.
