Hmm: If the pyelonephritis is due to bacteria Staph Aureus it can be the cause of the pyelonephritis . But having pyelonephritis does not mean you have or will cause staph aureus infection.

It's possible that: If you have one infection, in this case pyelonephritis, that your immune system may be weakened so that you may be more susceptible to other infections like those caused by staph. aureus(which tend to be skin/soft tissue infections). Realize it's still rather uncommon to develop pyelonephritis and then get an unrelated staph aureus infection.
