Autoimmune diseases: Anti-dna antibodies, a blood test done when suspecting connective tissue diseases also known as autoimmune diseases (example: lupus). The body immune system makes antibodies to attack its own dna resulting in illness. Caution: blood test alone will not make the diagnosis. Typical symptoms plus test are needed for diagnosis.

Suggestive of SLE!: Buyt i said suggestive. The titer of double stranded dna antibodies is more important than the presence of the antibody. Other tests are necessary to confirm the DX and activity of disease, if present.
