Pregnancy dating: The other two weeks comes from the first two weeks of the menstrual cycle in which the woman got pregnant. Pregnancies are dated by the start date of the period of the menstrual cycle in which the woman conceived, and you are astute in noticing that there was not even pregnancy tissue in the body at that time. This is a dating convention used to determine the due date.
