Keep free & elevate: Staying in a position for a prolonged period can cause a sprained ankle to feel stiff and aggravate pain. You can try keeping the ankle out from under the covers so it's not "restricted" or could try elevating it up on a couple pillows while sleeping - elevation also helps with relieving swelling and overall pain.

Follow up with PCP: In my career, I saw copul sprains found to be fractures after x-rays. If you didn't get one, go to your doctor especially if your pain doesn't improve after few days.
