A member asked:

Is getting a rabies shot a month after exposure ( before showing symptomps) too late for it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rabies prophylaxis: On average, infected humans begin to develop symptoms 30-50 days after exposure. The rabies vaccine is not very effective once symptoms have already started. Ideally, one can find out the status of the animal in question in order to make the determination of the vaccine is worth the expense and risk.
