Does a person with thalasemia trait (minor) have normal chromosomes?

Define normal: The number and appearance of the chromosomes is normal. Yet, buried within the DNA is a mutation that substituted trait information for the normal.

Genes, segments : of DNA, are arranged into chromosomes. A child who inherits a mutated gene or gene sequence that impairs formation of hemoglobin from both parents has a type of Thalassemia. .A child who inherits the mutant gene(s) from one parent carries alpha, beta or other "Thal" trait. Pre-pregnancy genetic counsellors need to know which "Thal" trait you have to check for it in your partner & define risk.
