Rib cage: This symptom could be caused by irritation or inflammation of rib cage muscles or pinched intercostal nerves which run between the ribs. Shingles can start with pain and then a rash appears. Muscular discomfort or pinched nerves are aggravated by deep breaths or other movement. A lung infection or pleurisy would be worsen by deep breathing and a cough is usually present. Consult your Physician.
