A member asked:

If i were to examine a frozen embryo under a microscope, would i expect to see mitosis or meiosis occurring?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Embryology: You may see 'snapshots" of mitosis but certainly not meiosis. Once the embryo is frozen all cell division ceases so you will not get to watch the process, if that's what you are asking. Meiosis only occurs in active gonadal cells which you would be unlikely to find in an embryo.
