Weak immune system: It means that someone's immune system is weakened, and cannot fight off infections as well as it should. Immunocompromise can be caused by medications, chronic diseases such as diabetes, chronic infections such as HIV and hepatitis, some cancers and cancer treatments, and anyone who is very young (newborn) or very elderly. Immunocompromised people need to be careful to avoid contageous illnesses.
