No.: Dimethicone provides moisture in skin creams and hair conditioners. It tends to decrease the fluffiness and frizz of the hair, making it appear thinner. Also, during pregnancy, hair may grow more quickly, and after childbirth, you may notice hair loss & thinning. Finally there are some medical conditions that can affect hair grown. Possibly: Dimethicone in shampoo normally is used to desentangle the hair and make it look healthier ;however, it does this by putting a heavy coat on the hair shaft which subsequently goes on the scalp thereby smothering the roots. If this happens, the roots are clogged possibly making it more difficult for the hair to grow

Not necessarily: There are only anecdotal(as in reports from customers) stories of hair loss possibly from dimethicone containing products. Overall, it's felt to be relatively safe both by the FDA, Cosmetic Ingredient Review and Skin Deep Datablase.
