A member asked:

Other than softening and dilating the cervix, are any measures normally used to minimize discomfort during iud insertion?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IUD insertion: Sometimes patients are given a NSAID such as Motrin or Naproxyn prior to insertion to minimize discomfort. It usually is not a very painful procedure according to my patients.
