Who is at risk of getting stockholm syndrome?

Prisoners: People being held hostage or prisoner. It can also occur to people who are being abused. It usually occurs in psychologically traumatic situations and is characterized by the victim being overly concerned for the well being of their captor or abuser and even sympathizing with them. The symptoms can continue even after the victim is freed from the situation.

Stockholm Syndrome: Those who are at risk of bonding with their abuser or someone who has traumatized them are those who are in those situations. Was thus named for a bank robbery in Stockholm where four people held hostage for 6 days resisted attempts to be rescued and defended their captors. Later two of the women got engaged to their captors. This is a survival mechanism.
