My husband has a persistant cough, and is spitting and coughing up a dark colored mucus sometimes, theres a growth above his eyes , he takes ampicilin

Possibilities...: How long has he been coughing? If it is less than 3 weeks, he likely has acute bronchitis. He may need a sputum culture to determine what the etiology is and to see if the organisms in his sputum are sensitive to ampicillin. If he has had this for more than 3 weeks, he may have chronic bronchitis, a form of COPD usually due to smoking. If he is not feeling better, he needs to go back to his doctor.

Need to examine: Any cough lasting longer than two weeks warrants investigation by a chest doctor. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you and your symptoms warrant evaluation by a physician
