Find a Hematologist: American society of hematology (ash) "find a hematologist" website: http://store.Hematology.Org/default.Aspx?Tabid=231 or 1) mmrf, lls, or other advocacy group info, 2) word of mouth in your area.

Internet or patients: Sometimes local chapters of the leukemia and lymphoma society or the international myeloma foundation are great resources..Not only for doctors specializing in myeloma but also for patients with the disease who have researched this topic. Various local cancer centers should have web pages listing doctors with this specialty if available. Healthtap will also be a resource as it grows.

Websites or MD: Your doctor may be able to refer you to a myeloma specialist. Alternatively you can call or check the websites of the international myeloma foundation or the multiple myeloma research foundation.

What are some homeopathic remedies for multiple myeloma?

None specific for MM: For multiple myeloma, you need to work with a hematologist-oncologist. Homeopathy is a whole different way of addressing imbalance ; helps @ deeper level. You'll need an experienced homeopathic doctor who's also able to communicate clearly with your other physicians. Homeopathic remedies are prescribed for the specific individual rather than the pathologic diagnosis -- 3000-4000 are possible.

Yes: Multiple myeloma can certainly be treated. There a variety of new drugs available. We are likely curing some myeloma patients, but we don't necessarilyl know who these peopple are when we start treatment. Check out the #mmsm tweetchat including an upcoming topic of myeloma cure.
Dr. Patrick Williams
General Practice 27 years experience
There remain a multitude of old and new treatments for myeloma, the efficacy of which depend on patient factors and specific factors of the myeloma cancer itself. The present stance of the National Cancer institute and leukemia/lyphoma society is that this is not presently a curable disease; importantly however is that EVERY patient is unique and not merely a statistic. Remissions are often seen

Dr. Williams - can you give us URL links on that stance? I'm on the NCI Myeloma Steering Committee and haven't heard that is an official position. Please check out #mmsm on Twitter. Rafael Fonseca, MD of the Mayo Clinic will be talking about curing myeloma in an upcoming TweetChat (May i think).

A 48-year-old member asked:

Is it possible for multiple myeloma to be treated and cured?

Dr. Anderson Bauer

No: It does not appear that we have a reliable cure for multiple myeloma. We can control it for a long period of time, and we continue to better understand treatment options and make new discoveries. Hopefully the day will come when we can cure multiple myeloma as well as we cure some leukemias and lymphomas.
