Not sure.: It is not unusual for stools to vary in width and consistency, but if you have noticed that this is a change in your bowel habits, then you should have an evaluation done. Also, if you have not had a colonoscopy before, you should have that done regardless of your stool changes, given your age, to help prevent the possibility of colon cancer. Good luck.
