A member asked:

Retinitis pigmentosa, what is the vitamin a dosage for children?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very high: Vitamin A in very high doses (i.e.10,000-15.000IU daily) has been shown to slow by 2 % per year the rate of progression of RP. This should only be given under the direct supervision of a physician who can monitor for adverse effects of this dose. Some modest benefit has also been demonstrated with the use of a spice, curcumin, which carries no risk of harm. Gene therapy is being explored.
